Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's debut female singer with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In October 2016, Ari Lennox released her Pho EP. The EP was where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the web, including her own release single Bound. In July of 2015, she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. The following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some potential references to Rihanna. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had been signed with Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening performance. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed released, followed by a music video September. Then on November 9, she released two additional singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two additional singles were also released by her on November 13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang together with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It was then released as a standalone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was launched with a music video posted on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. As a supporting act, she toured together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
